4 Making
1. Organize sculptural objects without any presentation. Discuss in small groups and report back:
A. Meaning:
– What can we read from the visual expression?
– How do we contextualize the object? (that is, see it in terms of a familiar system such as skin and bones) Is the misreading a problem?
B. Method & Artifact
– Where is the mark of the hand visible and where of the machine or tool?
– Could you make a tool or define a procedure to create this type of shape?
C. Aesthetics:
– How could we refine a vocabulary of elements through color, form, texture, etc? – How could the composition be improved? (i.e. more order, contrast, movement, or ___?)
