Learning Reflections

Learning Reflections:

1) I would like to learn some innovative marketing techniques that are relevant to the computer heavy generation we live in now. A lot of my ideas that I learned through my parent’s business about marketing are outdated. They include newspaper, yellow pages, ect.

I never really knew about guerilla marketing, so that was an interesting marketing technique that is used in genius ways. I also learned about hoop suite, and ways to track the demographics of your webpages that you run for your business.

2) I would like to learn if there are different marketing strategies for different types and sizes of business’s.

I have learned that every business is unique, and that each requires their own marketing plan, and that no marketing plan will look exactly like its competitor. Creating a marketing plan for Eugene Printmakers posed a challenge, since they had very little foundation, and this is good practice for what we might be dealing with in the future.

3) I am eager to learn the steps involved in making a formal marketing plan for a company.

I have never really sat down and created a step by step plan for Hands on Harmony, and this project gave me an opportunity to sit down and create one. I Plan to actually use some of these strategies when I graduate and expand my business to three times the size it is now.

4) I would like to learn to make a website for a business.

This goal was more of a personal one to do on my own and did not quite happen. I however made a decision to just use a word press site for when I do create a website. Through my big marketing plan, I figured out how I would design the website, and how often and with what info I would update it with.

5 ) I would like to become comfortable and proficient enough at marketing that  I feel ready applying for jobs that involve marketing in the future.

After taking this class, and especially MMC 1 class in the fall I feel more prepared to apply for a marketing position in the arts field.
