Join the 2025-2026 WGS Executive Board!

Do you want to be more involved with UOWGS? We are currently looking for members to join the executive board for the 2025-2026 academic year! If you are interested in working with us, please self-nominate for the open positions listed below using this form. The deadline to apply is Sunday, June 1.

Open positions and descriptions:
 
Fundraising Co-chair: (Preferred 2 years) The fundraiser chair organizes the annual fundraiser which is usually held in the spring term. Duties include getting donations from businesses for the raffle and drinks, organizing catering, and working with the co-chair to advertise and facilitate the event. In the second year of the position the fundraiser chair will assist the new chair and organize the speaker and venue. Social Co-chair: Plan and oversee social events such as Science Slam, the Annual Generations Luncheon, and quarterly member socials. Please reach out to Saumya if you are interested or have questions (saumyak@uoregon.edu)
Seminar Chair: Find and invite speakers for seminars each term that promote all marginalized genders in science. This can range from Q+A’s with trainees, to career journey talks, as well as post-doc-student-undergrad networking events. Seminar chair is responsible for organizing, planning, and running the seminar each term, in addition to helping to promote the seminar. Webmaster: Maintain the UOWGS website and manage social media presence. The webmaster will work with other e-board members as needed to advertise and promote events, and share news with members and the general public. Recorder: Schedule monthly meetings for officers, includes finding a time, booking a room, and distributing a meeting agenda prior to the meeting. Maintain notes during meetings and keep an archive of previous meeting notes containing all known commitments and decisions made during meetings.  Please reach out to Kendal if you are interested or have questions (ktinney@uoregon.edu)
Undergraduate Mentorship chair: Directs a year-long mentorship program that connects undergraduates interested in science careers with STEM graduate student mentors through quarterly meetings, skills workshops, and one-on-one support. The Chair coordinates applications, leads programming, supports mentors, and serves on the WGS Executive Council to guide JUMP! and related initiatives. Public and Alumni Relations Chair: Create and post flyers and send emails to advertise upcoming events and opportunities. Work with departmental contacts and the Webmaster to share news. Please reach out to Clara if you are interested or have questions (crehmann@uoregon.edu)
