Good Neighbor Welcome!

UO FSL encourages our community leaders to participate in The Good Neighbor Welcome, a collaboration between the University of Oregon and the City of Eugene. The
annual event welcomes students back for the year, shares tips on keeping them and their belongings safe,
and encourages them to be respectful and mindful neighbors through positive dialogue.

When: Wednesday, September 20, from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Small groups of volunteers will go door-to-door in the neighborhoods on the west side of campus
starting at the Central Presbyterian Church at 555 E. 15th Avenue.

Unpack The Quack

University Housing is preparing for “Unpack the Quack” (UPQ), the move-in experience for new and returning students living in the residence halls beginning this fall. We are asking for your help with “Unpack the Quack”– welcoming residence hall students and their families to the University. Participating in this valuable UO tradition is open to all students, staff, faculty, and any campus-affiliated group.

The two largest move-ins are on Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22, 2023. We are seeking UPQ helpers to assist welcoming new students to campus, providing directions, lifting and unloading. You can sign up for your shift according to your schedule, you can also request more than one shift when you register. Not all shifts require you to help lifting heavy objects. You can choose your preference for volunteer task when registering.

Registration and training for Unpack the Quack is at https://housing.uoregon.edu/unpackthequack.   Anyone who would like to assist will need to register. All those who sign up for at least one shift will receive a shirt to wear during move-in and a meal voucher at the end of their shift, to be used at any University Dining venue, Housing residence hall dining venue, except for Duck’s House in PNW Public Market.

Anyone having trouble signing up or who has questions should call the University Housing front desk at 541-346-4277 or email housing@uoregon.edu.
