“Estimada Jotería y Allies,
La Jotera publication and zine originally started at the University of Oregon in the 80s. The Zine has been published on and off throughout the years. This collective publication was made in an effort to create new ways of understanding gender, sexuality, bodies, and communities. This is a continuation of Queer resistance, Queer presencia y Queer movimiento and we look forward to integrating more people in this publication. In La Jotera we seek arte in any form including, but not limited to, poetry, stories and fotos.
This year our Gender, Identity & Sexuality board members within UO MEChA’s Chapter are working to publish this years magazine and have it released during Pride Week of Spring term. We want your art of resistance, existence, joteria, and allyship to be published in a zine that will travel nationwide and will be also be available online in PDF format. To submit artwork or written work, please email lajotera.zine@gmail.com
Please know that we are going to put in things in the publication in regards with available space, and amount of submissions.
This year we had submissions ranging from all peoples sexual orientation and sexual and gender expressionsand various others that do not choose to identify themselves. In short, nuestra gente ranges in all forms of being and existing.
We want to see submission from people from all walks of life!
