George Washington Bridge Fiasco

After reading about the George Washington Bridge fiasco in the New York Times, I stumbled across an interesting blog post discussing additional questions that have now been raised on the matter.  There is recent speculation that the George Washington Bridge grid lock that happen in September was actually organized by some of Christie’s political staff along with Port Authority in an effort to punish Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for refusing to endorse the Republican governor’s re-election bid. Without hesitation Christie fired his chief of staff, Bridget Kelly, for lying to him about her role in the political scandal, but there is still big debate as to whether Christie was in the loop about the lane closures. It’s astonishing to me that they would claim the bridge disaster was all due to a traffic study. What sort of study allows school busses full of kids to be trapped? Life-threatening situations came up where ambulances and police vehicles were unable to get to access the scene due to complete gridlock. It’s hard to believe anyone would have okayed a traffic study that would cause so much chaos without some other underlying motive.  Lastly, it scares me that politicians in many cases reflect toddlers with power.
