Job description:
Hours: 15 hrs/wk
Hourly Wage: $ 11.75/hr
The International Student and Scholar Services unit within the Division of Global Engagement administers services and programs for exchange and sponsored students. This includes oversight of their admission, correspondence with exchange partners and sponsoring agencies, as well as various UO academic and administrative units. In addition, the International Student and Scholar Services unit is responsible for managing the immigration, financial, and advising function for these students. The assistant will work closely and purposefully with the Coordinator of Exchange and Sponsored Students Programs to maintain the day-to-day operations of sponsored and exchange student programs by:
• Assisting with application materials, files, and correspondence with UO departments as well as with contacts at institutes in the U.S. and abroad;
• Helping coordinate the annual mailing of updated UO materials to exchange partners and sponsoring agencies;
• Assisting with questions from exchange and visiting applicants via email;
• Responsible for advocating for exchange and visiting student class schedules by contacting UO departments to clear the student for pre-requisites courses;
• Responsible for maintaining exchange and visiting social media platforms and exchange informational blog;
• Using and maintaining a database associated with assigned responsibilities;
• Providing support for programs aimed to engage UO students and departments with projects enhancing diversity;
• Providing support for special International Students and Scholar Services programs aimed to support international visitors.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have a Work-Study award
• Must be a current UO graduate or undergraduate student
• Excellent attention to detail
• Effective time management and administrative/office skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well with students of diverse backgrounds
• International study, work, volunteer and/or travel experience
• Ability to work independently and responsibly
• Experience with database programs

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with people from diverse cultures
• Familiarity with general office procedure
• Familiarity with the following software: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to speak one or more languages, preferably French, German, Korean or Japanese
