Many education abroad offices have developed domestic and hybrid programs in addition to strictly international offerings. Some of these efforts are longstanding, others newly conceived, but increasingly we are not speaking simply in terms of international, but global. What rationales are being used to initiate them? What does this evolving landscape look like in structural terms?
For friends and partners of GEO attending the Forum on Education Abroad in Denver, Colorado in March, we have a very special invitation! We would like to invite you to join us for an invigorating, moderated discussion on Strategies for Approaching International and Global Programming in the Education Abroad Office.
Come prepared for a facilitated dialogue on:
- How your education abroad office defines its scope in relation to international and global programming;
- Ways in which domestic and hybrid programs might offer global pedagogies, along with the challenges they represent;
- Whether these trends signal innovation and change or complement traditional approaches to education abroad pedagogies; and
- The timeliness of exploring and developing new learning paradigms with global significance (such as virtual collaborations that support the acquisition of global competencies).
This luncheon roundtable event will take place in Denver, Colorado on Thursday, March 28 from 12:15-1:45pm at Earls Kitchen and Bar, which is just a short walk from the Conference venue. This event has limited space available and is by invitation only, so please email Lisa Calevi (lar@uoregon.edu) to RSVP at your earliest convenience.
If you plan to attend, here is some suggested reading to inform the discussion:
