GEO is proud to announce awardees have been chosen for the Map Your Future 2018 scholarship and the GEO Ambassador Spring Semester 2019 scholarships!
The Map Your Future scholarship is a planning scholarship awarded only once a year that is designed to give freshmen and first-year students a way to start saving money for their study abroad experience from the beginning of their college career. This $1000 scholarship can be applied to any GEO program within a student’s four-year plan, and students awarded in winter 2018 can utilize the funds for any GEO program until the summer of 2022. Though only in its second year, the Map Your Future scholarship has proven extremely popular and the number of applicants has already doubled since the first cycle. From this competitive pool, GEO was able to award scholarships to 63% of our applicants this year. Recipients currently attend the following partner schools:
- Alma College (Alma, MI)
- Lipscomb University (Nashville, TN)
- Northern Michigan University (Marquette, MI)
- Oregon State University (Corvallis, OR)
- Portland State University (Portland, OR)
GEO is also happy to award GEO Ambassador scholarships for students several times per year. This $1000 scholarship applies to a specific program that a student has already been accepted to, and the terms of the fund require that the student participate in a self-determined project under the supervision of a GEO staff member to promote study abroad in their community and campus environment. For the spring semester of 2019, recipients of this award include students from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, and the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon.
Congratulations to all of our recipients! The next GEO Ambassador scholarship deadline for summer programs will be March 10th. For more information on the scholarships listed above, please visit https://geo.uoregon.edu/scholarships/partners.
