Over all I feel my project unlike the other was focused on social crisis rather than a natural crisis. The idea of living in a tower is out there but I feel Its loosing that sense of neighborhood, I wanted to create a livable community that mimics the feeling of a the American suburb. i believe that if you make spaces for people to be its going to be filled up. That’s why I went toward having multi-functional sky bridges that serve as a green park on the roof ( people can exercise, play or walk their dog. ) in the same time the inner part will have a different function that brings people together.
Responding the environmental context. At first I was thinking of wind turbines, but after the research of wind speed it won’t pay off their price. However I located the green spaces toward the south to maximize sun exposure allowing plants to grow healthy. Within the residential units the over hangs of the floor above works as an shading devices to the unit below, blocking summer sun and allowing winter sun to come in.
There were some difficulties this term with my work progress. I struggled to open my mind to design in an unrealistic world. But I tried hard, and explored many ideas and form until I found one that I like and serves what I want. But is still needs more work to create such a community.
I had some minor comments from my reviewer that I think are good to fix like decide to follow one form ( curve or angular). Some planning to the site. And so…
Overall I think this was a great experience to design a project that big but not get into the details. What made it more fun is not worrying about the code. It was fun 🙂
