We are excited to host four professionals within the field of arts and culture management who work closely with events and festivals.
Gain valuable insight into a specific professional field with many dimensions and moving parts! Learn different approaches towards organizing and implementing complex cultural events, potential challenges, and necessary skills to become a successful events manager.
Guest panelists include Jessica Watson (Lane Arts Council), Colette Ramirez (City of Eugene Cultural Services), Chelsea Joyce (UO Cultural Forum), and Erin Boberg Doughton (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art).
Jessica Watson is Lane Arts Council’s event organizer for the First Friday Art Walk. The monthly art walk showcases current art happenings around the greater Eugene area, with a central focus on downtown. Colette Ramirez, of the City of Eugene Cultural Services department, oversees the operations and logistics team of the event summer programing series EUGFun! as well as Fiesta Cultural happening each September. Chelsea Joyce is the Production Coordinator for the UO Cultural Forum, a University of Oregon program that presents music, film, visual and performing arts, contemporary issues, and hosts its very own summer festival, the Willamette Valley Music Festival. Erin Boberg Doughton is the Performing Arts Program Director for Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), a multidisciplinary arts organization that hosts the internationally known Time Based Arts (TBA) festival every summer in Portland.
