ELAN is excited to kick off the new school year with TWO big announcements, one of which is our Community Partners Reception on September 22nd, and also inviting the incoming class to be a part of the ELAN leadership team by applying to be the 2014/2015 Social Media Chair. We will be accepting applications until midnight on Wednesday, October 1st.
ELAN is an affiliate of Americans for the Arts (AFTA) Emerging Leaders Network and is a 15 year old student-founded organization that began in the U of O’s Arts and Administration program. ELAN provides graduates and undergraduates with unique professional development opportunities that cultivate leadership, dialogue, and engagement within the arts and culture community.
As Social Media Chair you will have the opportunity to be involved in the planning and management of ELAN events, connect with the local and national Emerging Leaders Network and be a part of a nationally recognized student leadership organization. Being a member of the ELAN leadership team gives you a hands on experience to grow as an arts administrator while also experiencing our vibrant campus community in a unique way that creates close relationships with students and faculty alike.
Chelsey, our current Social Media Chair, found her time as chair to be rewarding, engaging and constantly making her think about how to creatively connect through social media with the campus community and beyond. Chelsey strongly encourages you to apply for the position if you are interested and is happy to answer any questions you may have about the position!
Below is a description of the position. All interested candidates should submit a letter of interest; resume; and if available, writing and design samples from past social media/marketing work to ELAN Social Media Chair Chelsey Thornton: chelseyt@uoregon.edu by midnight on Wednesday, October 1st.
Social Media Chair Position Description:
The ELAN Social Media Chair helps in the promotion of ELAN events and facilitates communications on Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms that strengthen ELAN’S presence in Eugene’s arts and culture community and the University of Oregon student community. Since social media is ELAN’s main method of community engagement, the Social Media Chair serves as a liaison between arts organization, other student groups and ELAN. It is the Social Media Chair’s responsibility to extend ELAN’s mission through the language, content and design of posts and communications on social media. This extension helps strengthen ELAN’s mission and establishes the organization as a professional but FUN student organization focused on professional development and the arts.
We look forward to adding a new leader to our team and having another amazing year!
