SmartForm
SmartForm is a somewhat outdated Grasshopper plugin that works similar to Kangaroo – essentially inflating shapes from simple meshes. There are few components (above right), so it is a very simple tool with dynamic results. Below is a mesh created from points in Rhino that is fed in directly to SmartForm.
Depending on how the mesh is supported, the resulting shape can vary widely.
Adjust stiffness to allow for more vertical span (i.e. hanging chain model)
Similar to Karamba, SmartForm provides simple structural analysis of nodes, lines, and planes – everything from area to displacement, length to angle at intersection.
Though not as comprehensive as Karamba, quick feedback can provide useful feedback without much additional effort.
However, it is very simple to convert the SmartMesh into a Mesh Load for further analysis in Karamba
