PEAPOD Study

The Prenatal Environment and Optimal Postnatal Development (PEAPOD) Study is looking at how nutrition and stress during pregnancy affect the health and well-being of mothers and newborn babies. We are no longer recruiting new participants, but you can contact our lab to learn more.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are between 18 and 40 years old
  • You are currently less than 38 weeks pregnant
  • You are planning to give birth at RiverBend Medical Center, Springfield, Oregon

What does participation involve?

  • One or two prenatal assessments (can be in person or remote)*
  • Blood and other biological samples
  • Body composition analysis
  • Online surveys about your feelings, experiences & food intake
  • Information about your pregnancy, birth and newborn

Study participants are paid:

  • $10 for completing a phone screening call
  • Up to $50 for a 2nd trimester assessment
  • Up to $70 for a 3rd trimester assessment
  • $40 for sharing birth information
