Oregon architecture students can help shape Chinese cities by interning at the Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Design Group, an award-winning architectural firm with over 3,000 staff.

University of Oregon- Shanghai Xian Dai Architecture Exchange Program was founded with the help from Raymond Cheng, architect and University of Oregon Architecture alum. In 2010, four University of Oregon architecture students were the first Americans to participate in the Xian Dai’s summer internship program. The following year, Mr. Cheng organized a visit to Oregon for the design firm’s executive leaders.  After their visit in May 2011, they decided to make the internship program an annual event and to send Xian Dai employees to Oregon for advanced studies.  For the Fall 2012 academic term, UO hosted nine award-winning visiting architects from Xian Dai. By 2015, 30 Xian Dai architects and 16 UO architecture students have participated the exchange program. The exchange is so successful that the stay of Xian Dai architects has extended from three to six months.  On January 1 2016, six Xian Dai architects have arrived in Eugene Oregon to start their six month exchange program. Xian Dai is looking forward to sponsoring four UO Architecture students again to participate in the Summer 2017 internship program. If you are interested in this opportunity to work in China, see application material under the “Internship” section.
