Kelly and Ashley’s work published in Optics Express

Congrats to Kelly and Ashley on the publication of their work in Optics Express. Their paper, titled “Broadband single-shot transient absorption spectroscopy”, details the heroic efforts they have made to give our SSTA instrument broadband probe capabilities. From developing a powerful white light source, to programming clever beamshaping algorithms, to meticulously ensuring accurate calibration – this is fantastic work. Great job!

Welcome to the lab, Sonja!

A big welcome to our new research volunteer, Sonja Nusser. Sonja is simultaneously a student at Churchill High School, Lane Community College, and UO since there’s just too much learning to be done! Sonja will be working with Madi, learning how to deposit organic thin films and image them using our homebuilt microscope. Welcome to the team, Sonja!

Thanks for a great visit UW!

Thanks to the UW Chemistry Department and my host, Prof. Cody Schlenker, for a great visit. It was fun to share our work with you and hear about all the exciting science happening up in Seattle.

Welcome to rotation students Marium and Nicole

A big welcome to our new rotation students for Winter quarter, Marium Haq and Nicole Nieves! Marium will be learning how to use our single-shot transient absorption instrument, while Nicole will be making and measuring some perovskite nanocrystals. It’s going to be an exciting quarter!

Emma completes a successful PRISM recruitment trip

Thanks to our latest PRISM Ambassador, Emma Tran, who gave recruitment seminars at Dixie State University, the CSU at San Bernardino, and her alma mater, the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Emma shared her research and experiences with over 130 undergraduate students!

Welcome rotation students Ashley and Zach!

Welcome to our two rotation students for Fall quarter, Ashley Mapile and Zach Walbrun! Ashley will be learning the ins and outs of our single-shot transient absorption instrument, while Zach will be learning to synthesize some perovskite nanocrystals and watching their dynamics evolve. Looking forward to a fun quarter!
