Congrats to Zach and Laila on publishing their 3-year study of how interacting with a simulation of building a microscope affects students in the upper-division physical chemistry lab class here at UO. The simulation and other teaching materials are found here and are explained in our paper. In our paper, titled “Prelab Simulation of Microscope Building Activity in Upper Division Laboratory Improves Student Confidence”, We found that using the simulation prior to actually building the microscopes in the lab improved student confidence in the lab. This study was a long time coming – congrats Zach and Laila on your persistence!
Zach and Laila’s study of our microscopy simulation published in J. Chem. Ed.
