SOMD Meetings

All tenure-related faculty, career instructors, visiting faculty, and staff are expected to attend SOMD Meetings. Pro tempore instructors are welcome, but attendance is not required. Please notify the Dean's Office (deanmus@uoregon.edu) in advance if you cannot attend.

The first meeting of the academic year is typically scheduled on Tuesday during Week of Welcome (WOW); time and place are announced in advance each year.

All SOMD faculty and staff are expected to attend; pro tempore instructors are welcome, but attendance is not required.

The final meeting of the academic year is typically scheduled on Thursday afternoon during finals week (90 minutes). The Dean presents highlights from the year, such as promotions, new faculty and staff introductions, any upcoming searches, or sabbatical leaves, and shares goals for the next academic year. Our SOMD end-of-year reception will follow the meeting.
  • Meeting Agendas: Shared one week in advance.
  • Notices of Motion: Distributed by the Dean’s Office two weeks before the meeting.
  • Voting Privileges: Granted to tenure-track and tenured faculty, tenure-reduced faculty (TRP), emeritus and retired faculty with current academic appointments, and career faculty.
