Charge and Responsibilities: The principal work carried out by the SOMD Review Committee involves evaluating 1. Faculty Merit Reviews (during merit review years); 2. Trotter Visiting Professorship (TVP) Proposals; 3. SOMD Berwick Excellence in Teaching Awards.
The committee will refer to the appropriate policy and guidelines, such as the SOMD Merit Review Policy, TVP proposal, and/or the Teaching Award guidelines when evaluating.
The Dean may appoint additional faculty members from appropriate areas and ranks for additional input as ad hoc (ex officio, non-voting) members, as needed.
Eligibility: All SOMD TTF and Career faculty; at least one member being a career faculty.
Election/Appointment Process: Department Elected.
Term: Two-year terms, except for those filling vacancies in unexpired terms. Membership is staggered with three members elected one year and three members elected the next year. No consecutive terms can be served. A mandatory one-year exclusion will follow two consecutive years of service.
Reporting: Dean.
Note: The inaugural SOMD Review Committee in 2023-24 will consist of members with full 2-year terms and members with 1-year terms in order to stagger the membership. Going forward, elections will take place during spring along with the FAC and personnel committee election process.
