Art and Human Values

This week I went to saw the Runquist Murals, and the feeling I got was very different with what I got from watching them online in front computer. It was not only about the size, and of course the real murals are much bigger than I thought, but also about the inspiration. There were two parts of the murals called “Development of the Arts”, and “Development of the Sciences”. I found it was really a good idea to put the development of the history into an analogy of tree. Like the description on website said, “mother earth provides the materials for the arts exemplified here by gems and precious stones, and inspiration in its infinite forms and growth represented by flower”, and in the development of sciences part, “figure at base of tree represents humanity rising to erect posture of thinking being”. To be honest, I am very interested in the history of these things, but I still think I am an outsider for such things because I am not from this country. So I think it will be interesting to make a Chinese version of it.

I searched a lot on Internet trying to get right information, and here is my version of “Development of China”.
