To be honest, I don’t have any rules for dressing. I just wear what I think is pretty and comfortable. However, I think my family, or my parents, affect me a lot on this. They always tell me the dressing is not important as long as it is clean and appropriate. The personality inside of me is the most important part, as well as what really attracts other people. So my value on my dressing is first, they have to comfortable to ware. Second, they have to be appropriate for my age and environment. Third, I will never spend too much money on a dress no matter how much I like it. I am a very traditional Chinese girl who values family as a very huge part in my life. I never wearing earrings and I never dying hair for twenty-three years because my parents think I should not do such things before I am old enough. Of course I am old enough to do such things now but I just used to be like this, so I still haven’t done them yet.
So here are pictures to show how I dressing in different time period.
This was when I was very little, and my dressing style was “whatever my mom said so”. Many of my clothes were from a big sister who is the daughter of my mom’s best friend. They basically shared everything together because they were very close.
This is what I am wearing today. This is not what I will wear for school, instead it is more like a weekend dressing. Since Eugene has good weather today, I decide to go with a “happy girl” style because I like pink when I am in a good mood.
This picture was taken when I was about to go to a party. I am not a party girl so I really had no idea what to wear at that time. I have heard that American college will have lots of party and events before I come to US, so I brought a dress, and this was the first time I wear it for three years.
This will be my dress when I have presentation or business event to attend. I am major in Accounting, so I actually will wear this kind of business casual very often.
This is how I look in a normal summer day at China. I would like to wear bright color and shorts during summer time because I think this is how summer supposes to be.
Actually I was considering getting a tattoo someday, but my parents said no way. I can totally understand why they said that because tattoos are seen as something not very good in China. I never thought to get one before I study here, and this is how culture and environment changes a person’s value.
Another thing that changes my dressing style is people around me. I also think this is a very normal thing because people are affecting each other time to time. I like American dressing style because I think American college girls are all very pretty, and I can feel their positive energy. So this is another factor that changes my value.
