The three characteristics of a “Devine Man” that White describes are:

1.) Birth

  1. A) special prophecy such as dreams and Devine oracles that announce the Messenger (Son) of God

– mother (Mary) is announced as a mother (who was a virgin) and the pregnancy was given by god (a Devine parent)

– God (who gave the mother (Mary) her baby announces to her that she will be given a son and his special nature

B.) birth is unannounced and has a special circumstance

-Special day (Christmas Day)

-Unusual place (in a barn)

2.) Early Childhood

– we do not know Christ’s early childhood the Bible explains Jesus was born then he was 30 years old and being Baptized by John the Baptist

3) Adult Career

  1. A) Judas betrays Jesus and gives him over to the Priests after Jesus has led Judas and showed him his true power
  2. B) Wisdom is manifested by Jesus’ disciples to trust in the Lord and Christ and that they should remember him as the Son of God
  3. C) Jesus performs miracles by healing a person who had leprosy on their face, made a paralyzed person walk, and made a blind man see

D.) Jesus shows strength when he goes into the wilderness, he also shows strength when he knows who will betray him in the garden, and when he is about to be crucified and is being beaten Jesus is strong and trusts in God’s plans

E.) Jesus traveled with his disciples to Bethlehem, Galilee, etc.

F.) When Jesus is crucified he takes all of man’s sins with him and saves the world and future generations from an afterlife of pain and agony.

Lucian believes that Peregrinus is dumb for believing that he will be immortal once he dies and has this envision of joining the gods. So it is pretty obvious that he doesn’t believe in theism. He also says that Peregrinus’ faith is not enough for an afterlife and that when he dies that he will be judged very quickly. Tying this into the 3 Characteristics of being a Devine man, Peregrinus has no special circumstances with birth and early childhood. But in his adult life he believes that when he dies he will join the god’s, because of his strong, and proven faith in the Gods and an afterlife
