Welcome to our website, hosting our FIG project for MAPS and APPS 14.
When we were thinking about what to do this project on, we wanted to pick something that everyone would take interest in. We not only wanted it to be enjoyable for us to research, but interesting to look at, and relatable to observers. Naturally, we thought that making the University the focus of our ambitions would satisfy these things. Considering Knight Library’s extensive collection of aerial photography of the Campus, we knew we had our project.

This is the UO Campus that we have all become familiar with.
Over the course of its existence, the University of Oregon has undergone countless changes that permanently altered the campus. It is still changing even to this day… just look outside!

The image below was taken in 1936, and it provides a good overhead view of the University Campus.
If you look closely at the landscape, you will note that there are many things missing from the picture that we have become familiar with today. For example, the EMU is nowhere to be seen… nor is the memorial quadrangle, or many of the residence halls. You also may notice that the trees in the cemetery are properly maintained.
