The Latinx Scholars ARC is proud to present JUDGE TORRES ~ a bilingual performance based on the life of Oregon judge, the Hon. Xiomara Torres, created by Teatro Milagro:

“An immigrant. A dreamer. A survivor. This is the story of Xiomara Torres. Milta Ortiz’s Judge Torres recounts the inspiring story of one of Oregon’s finest judges, woven together with magic realism and Mayan folktales from her home of El Salvador.”

“We Are Neighbors” is a play that will explore the stories of local immigrants.  There will be a special on-campus presentation and discussion on Tuesday, May 7, at 5 pm in 104 Villard Hall. Please join us if your schedule allows and spread the word!

LSG helped sponsor the BE CULTURA concert by visiting artist OLMECA. Both the artist and the audience made it a success despite the craziness of the winter weather that closed the university on the day before!

Fund the Dream Scholarship

Every year in Oregon, Dreamer students transition from high school to college to continue their education. Undocumented students, including Tuition Equity and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), do not qualify for Federal Financial Aid. They are also ineligible for many other forms of financial aid that students typically use to fund their education. It is very common for them to take a term off every year to work and raise money for tuition.

Our Dreamers are hardworking, bright, determined Ducks! They are just like every other Duck. They have goals of owning their own businesses, working in our communities, and supporting their families. We believe nothing should stand in their way of a college degree. And Though our Dreamer students face many stressors, we can help them graduate!

This scholarship aims to provide some financial relief, allowing them to complete their degrees and fulfill their goal of becoming a Duck Alumni on graduation day!
