The Stoner Arms Dealers: By Guy Lawson in Rolling Stone
This article was a finalist for best feature writing in a magazine for 2011. I like how the author is able to describe the personality of the two young arms dealers. I think that the author also does a great job of explaining the process that the arms dealers had to go through with each buy. As someone who (obviously) has no knowledge of the arms dealing business I found the article and the process very easy to follow, which something that i need to work on in my writing. I also thought the author used the right quotes for the piece, most of the quotes used highlighted multiple aspects of the two arms dealers. It showed their immaturity and youth at times but also showed their business savvy and ambition in a world that they knew little about. The author does a good job of taking you through a story that you think ends with the kids as millionaires, a poster child for the 21st century American dream. But once you get back to where the article began, you see the greed drive the friends apart and ultimately send one to jail. The end quote is a nice bow on a phenomenal story.
Good.
