Assignment 6 – Sound Portrait
A Day Without Glasses – Revised
Without my glasses, I cant see. People who try on my glasses comment on how blind I am, yet they don’t know what it’s like to look through my eyes.
Follow me on a day without my glasses.
Crossing the street becomes a hazard since I can’t see the walk signal from across the street.
At the bus stop I go to the bay by memory since I can’t read the numbers on the bus.
The bus ride is one big blur, literally.
In the wood shop I am exretmely vulnerable. I must walk around carefully to avoid hazards and using tools is out of the question.
Showering is a blessing and a curse. I am not able to tell the difference between my shampoo and conditioner since the bottles look exactly the same, but I never see how dirty my bathtub is.
As for cooking a meal, I must rely on my hearing and sense of smell. They tell me when a pan is hot and if my food is burning.
