- Explanation of the rationale: we develop the instructional unit by analyzing the framework of Modularity, which is one of the computer science concept, and the standards of narrative writing to 5th graders. Modularity is the concept meaning a big project can be divided into small pieces and be recomposed as well, which could lead to an easier problem-solving process. On a daily basis, the idea of Modularity could be used as a mindset facilitating us to solve problems. Thus, Modularity is helpful and important to be mastered by everyone.
- Key project: Prompt-based Story drawing. Students will choose one of the fours prompts to draw out their own story applying 5 elements of narrative.
- Formative assessment: Gallery Walk and Teacher’s feedback for students’ drawings
