The Spanish Heritage Language Program (SHL) is open to all students who want to learn more about Latino cultures and Spanish in the United States. The curriculum of the SHL is especially appropriate for students who grew up in Spanish-speaking households or communities where Spanish is not the dominant language, such as the United States. The SHL offers a variety of classes to meet students’ needs as heritage learners. Students with Spanish-language heritage will explore topics related to their cultural backgrounds, and course work is designed to help them recover or develop their heritage linguistic abilities in oral as well as written expression.
