Third Spaces
Olivia:
1. Understanding how human comfort is important for third spaces through weather and other scale testings
2. Knowing the demographics of age can help understand the use of spaces and needing areas in the third space to accommodate multiple uses (public and private)
Trevor:
1. From the initial review of our boards with Phil, way-finding was brought up as being lacking in downtown Springfield, although apparently the city is making efforts to improve it. Our site could be a valuable landmark to help locate the park from the city. On a similar note, the current design standards put forth by the city are lacking, but they are still in development, so improvements could be made.
2. The relationship between city and developer is interesting, and seeing it from a third perspective is very unique and helpful, as I hope to be in the developer position someday.
3. The relationship between Springfield and “Grit” was interesting. The “Brand” of Springfield as hard working and passionate is good to hear as a sort of up and coming story, and it’s good to hear the proactive nature of planning that the city is taking toward preserving its downtown, compared to Eugene.
