GEO UPDATE: PARIS ATTACKS

As many of you are aware, a disturbing situation is unfolding in Paris, France this evening. News reports state that there have been shootings at multiple locations with numerous casualties. We are deeply saddened by the events that are unfolding this evening. Our thoughts are with all of you and the people of France.

It is important that you reach out, right away, to family or others who might be concerned about your well-being. They will want to know that you are safe. Please be in touch with your on-site staff and support network if you have concerns .

We recommend that you carefully consider all travel decisions over the weekend, and delay any planned travel to Paris until this situation is resolved. Be aware that France has closed its borders and it will be important to consult your on-site staff before you travel. We do not know how long the border closure will be in effect. However, if you are impacted by the border closure, you should consult with your on-site staff about your specific situation and location.

As a reminder, when situations of this kind occur it is important to:

Remain vigilant, be cognizant of your surroundings and maintain situational awareness. Avoid any areas affected by this situation.
Communicate your travel plans with your on-site staff and your homestay family (if applicable).
Allow for extra time if using mass transit due to increased security measures.
