Bike Music Fest 2014 is a big part of Eugene’s culture in the sense that it promotes alternative transportation and social consciousness through the mix of live music and biking. For our video we covered the entire event from start to end with Kate Armstrong, head volunteer, as our subject. We incorporated a little piece of everything that happened at the event; biking, live music, dancing, and more. Kate was our main subject because she was running the show as a volunteer and Dave Villalobos was our second character that explained the more logistical side of the event. Overall our video covered the entire event in an informative and fun way.
Each group member interviewed 2 people that were somehow involved with the event whether a volunteer, audience member, coordinator, etc. This allowed us to get a view from every angle for our Q&As.
The thousand-word article was a focus on both the event itself and the impact it has had on the community. The included quotes were chosen based on their relevance to the event and also to convey the passion that the people involved had for the Bike Music Fest.
For the website, we focused on displaying our two multimedia pieces on the home page. The header photo was taken at the event. The theme is simple and easy to navigate. The links at the top go directly to the page of each story.
The audio slideshow is a variety of photos that go in chronological order of the event. The first song is by DJ bPollen, who was the DJ during the bike ride from the EMU Amphitheater to Skinners Butte Park. The second song is by Samba Ja, who performed when bikers first arrived and long into the event.
