Given the diverse landscape of technology use in teaching and learning at the U of O, we would like to create a Community of Practice of those working in “Educational Technology” and/or “Instructional Technology.” For all intents and purposes we use these terms interchangeably.
The idea behind this group is to bring together people who work in the field of supporting faculty with their teaching and learning and the use of technology. This might include the following:
- Use of the (or an) LMS
- Use of classroom technologies such as projectors, audio, microphones, clickers, etc.
- Instructional design both in theory and practice
- New innovative and emerging technologies
- Creating a general place where people working in this field can bring their own questions and experiences in order to gain insights and support
Various methods to engage this community include (but not limited to):
- Having ongoing regularly scheduled meetings of the main cohort,
- Promoting UO faculty showcases of their uses of Instructional Technology,
- Facilitating campus wide symposiums and events bringing together the diverse support community
