APRIL 7: PARENT SUPPORT GROUP (SPANISH)

Come join a group of parents and share in the joys and struggles of psgparenting a child with special needs. This is a great group for parents looking to connect with other parents. The bimonthly Early Childhood CARES Parent Support Group will meet on Tues., April 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 145 of the Clinical Services Building, located at 901 E. 18th Ave. in Eugene. Free parking is available next to the building. Preregistration is required. Parents need to register for the meeting even if childcare is not needed. To register, please call 541-346-2578 or email cmetz@uoregon.edu by Fri., April 3. Please note, the support group will be cancelled if fewer than five parents register.

April 13: POSITIVE PARENTING GROUP (PART 1)

Early Childhood CARES will host part 1 of its Spring Positive Parenting Group on Mon., April 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 145 of the Clinical Services Building located on the University of Oregon campus at 901 E. 18th Ave. Free parking is available next to the building. This is an eight-week training designed to help parents learn effective behavior support strategies to use with preschool-age children with challenging behaviors. Early Childhood CARES will offer another Behavior Management Parent Group in the Summer.

APRIL 16: POTTY TRAINING 101

Early Childhood CARES will host a Potty Training 101 Workshop on Thurs., potty training2April 16 from 6:15 to 8:00 p.m. at Brattain Early Learning Center library located at 425 10th St., Springfield. This workshop is designed to teach parents tips and tricks to help their child master this all important life skill. The session will focus on strategies to implement at home and problem solving. Childcare will be provided for families receiving services from Early Childhood CARES. Snacks will be provided. Preregistration is required. Please call 541.346.2578 or email cmetz@uoregon.edu to register for the workshop and arrange childcare needs by Tues., April 14. The workshop will be cancelled if fewer than five parents register.

APRIL 21: SPANISH COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP

Early Childhood CARES will host it’s Spanish Communication Workshop for readingSpanish speaking families on Tues., APRIL 21st from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 201 of the Clinical Services Building, located at 901 E. 18th Ave. in Eugene. This workshop will help parents learn easy-to-use and effective tools for promoting language development and building early literacy skills. The workshop will focus on strategies that parents can use during playtime, as well as strategies to use during book time. Snacks will be provided. Free parking is available next to the building.Preregistration is required. Parents need to register for the meeting even if childcare is not needed. APRIL 29: STATUTORY OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEETINGdate

Early Childhood CARES will host a Statutory Oversight Committee Meeting on Wed., April 29 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at its main office which is located at 299 E. 18th Ave., Eugene. The Statutory Oversight Committee is comprised of service providers, agencies, school districts and parents who meet to discuss fiscal issues and the delivery of services to Early Childhood CARES children and their families. Childcare will not be provided; however, parents will be paid a $25 stipend for self-arranged childcare. Parent attendance is welcome at these meetings and parent input is appreciated!
