Early Childhood CARES will host part 2 of its Winter Positive Parenting Group on Mon., Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 145 of the Clinical Services Building located on the University of Oregon campus at 901 E. 18th Ave. Free parking is available next to the building. This is an eight-week training designed to help parents learn effective behavior support strategies to use with preschool-age children with challenging behaviors. Early Childhood CARES will offer another Behavior Management Parent Group in the Spring.

Early Childhood CARES will host a Sensory Diet Workshop on Tues., Feb. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 145 of the Clinical Services Building, located at 901 E. 18th Ave. in Eugene. Parents will learn about the “7 sensory systems” and how sensory processing impacts behavior, self-care and social interaction. We will discuss and demonstrate ideas and activities for creating a sensory diet and helping our children participate in daily routines. Snacks will be provided. Free parking is available next to the building. Preregistration is required. Parents need to register for the meeting even if childcare is not needed. Early Childhood CARES will host a Statutory Oversight Committee Meeting on Wed., Feb. 18 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at its main office which is located at 299 E. 18th Ave., Eugene. The Statutory Oversight Committee is comprised of service providers, agencies, school districts and parents who meet to discuss fiscal issues and the delivery of services to Early Childhood CARES children and their families. Childcare will not be provided; however, parents will be paid a $25 stipend for self-arranged childcare. Parent attendance is welcome at these meetings and parent input is appreciated!

Come join us for our Creating Your Child’s One Page Profile Workshop to learn how you can communicate and share your child’s gifts and strengths with others using the one-page profile. The one page profile is a great tool to share with physicians, teachers, babysitters, therapists, summer camp leaders and any other people who know and interact with your child. Parents will learn how to record their child’s gifts, as well as what works and doesn’t work for their child. The end result will be a document parents can share with others that will ultimately help people better support your child. We will meet on Thurs., Feb. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in room 145 of the Clinical Services Building, located at 901 E. 18th Ave. in Eugene. Free parking is available next to the building. This is a four-week parent group series based upon the Incredible Years, developed by Dr. Carloyn Webster-Stratton with the University of Washington. Snacks will be provided.
