Solar Shading Progress

The solar shading device is constructed using steel framing and canvas (light malleable materials). The design relies on solar apertures that open and close depending on solar positioning. The original concept utilizes bird-like motifs for the apertures – folding, fluttering to shade or expose the building. The current script takes a polygon and evaluates the distance from the sun’s position and the geometry’s centroid to determine whether it shrinks or expands. (As shown in figures 3-5) Ideally, the modules will factor in the sun’s angle or even solar exposure, ex. overcast days = opened shading devices.
