The LEI program offers:

Student Intern Responsibilities

  • Commit to the 16-week internship experience. View the full program schedule.
  • Complete 10-12 hours of internship work each week. Meet with your internship supervisor to jointly determine the content, schedule, and structure of work responsibilities and projects.
  • Attend weekly cohort meetings and workshops (90 minutes). Meetings rotate between professional development workshops and community building meetings with other student interns*.
  • Attend 1:1 check-ins* with the LEI coordinator.
  • Attend the LEI Orientation, Capstone Celebration, and other required meetings/events*.
  • Respond promptly to communications/requests from the LEI coordinator and internship supervisor.
  • Communicate issues and concerns to your internship supervisor and the LEI coordinator. Work to resolve issues collaboratively.
  • Participate in a Midpoint Site Visit with your internship supervisor and the LEI coordinator.
  • Produce deliverables to synthesize and reflect upon your internship experience (e.g. presentation at the LEI Capstone Celebration, blog posts, etc.).
  • Track your work hours and submit timesheets on time each month.
  • Maintain good academic standing.
    *All required meetings and workshops are paid work hours.

Pay and Benefits

  • This is a paid internship. Interns will receive $15.70 per hour.
    Note: Student wages are revised each year and interns will be hired as UO student employees. Domestic students are limited to working a total of 25 hours per week across all UO positions and international students are limited to 20 hours per week across all UO positions.

Qualifications and Expectations

To be eligible to participate in the LEI program, applicants must be UO undergraduate students who are enrolled in eight (8) or more credits during the internship term(s) and also have:

  • Good academic standing.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
  • An interest in positively engaging with employers and other UO students to develop new professional skills.
  • A commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Skills, knowledge, and experience required for the internship position. See Available Positions.
