Khristina received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Humboldt State University. After attaining her Bachelors Degree, Khristina served in Peace Corps as a Small Business Volunteer in Fiji. As a Peace Corps Volunteer she worked with the Nausori Town Council, a local municipality with a population base of approximately 44,000 people, to develop best business management practices. After returning from Fiji, Khristina wrote, coordinated, and led interviews for development of promotional materials as a part of a capital campaign project, raising $600,000 in pledges for United Methodist Church of the Joyful Healer. Following her year with the RARE Program, Khristina hopes to find employment in the regional planning and/or economic development field in the Pacific Northwest.

The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay is a special district organized under ORS 777. Its mission is to help build a diversified, healthy and stable regional economy by prudently managing its assets, advocating for infrastructure improvements, and collaborating with other public and private entities. The Port is uniquely positioned to influence the local economy through its operations and partnerships.
The RARE participant placed with the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay will enable the organization to increase collaboration with public and private entities on projects focused on improving the local and regional economy. Specifically, the participant will work with the Charleston Advisory Committee to review and update an existing plan to upgrade Charleston Marina/Shipyard operations and infrastructure; draft a project plan for a large infrastructure project; research grant availability; participate in planning meetings; and, promote community events.
