Born and raised in southeast Portland, I’m a sophomore in the CHC studying Environmental Studies and Geography Education. I’m excited to be designing and coordinating this year’s Common Reading for the CHC and look forward to leading the Sustainability CHIP this fall!

1. What is your favorite thing about the Clark Honors College?

I find the CHC to be a special and intellectually stimulating community, and I hope you do as well. Everyone works hard to make sure students are successful in achieving whatever they set their minds to.

Besides that, though, we also get some perks like Bobby the Platypus (our beloved mascot) and an awesome sugar-loaded picnic at the end of each term.

2. What’s a fun place you like to go in Eugene?

When (if?) a sunny day rolls around, I’d highly recommend taking a bike ride with some friends. My favorite ride is along with Willamette in Alton Baker Park right next to Autzen Stadium.

3. Any advice for soon-to-be Platypi?

Even if you didn’t have really any questions, be sure that you drop by office hours to say hello to your professors, instructors, and GTFs.

4. What do you like to do for fun?

Teaching is clearly a weird answer for this… but I also enjoy watching horror movies, singing, and traditional black and white photography.

5. What’s your favorite type of duck (a species or otherwise)?

Pacific Black Ducks…they’re brown.

6. If you were to write a satirical news article (e.g. for The Onion)
what would you title it?

“Outdoors Declared Too Scary and Dangerous for America. Heroes Pave Over National Parks.”
