The Robert D. Clark Honors College is a small, liberal arts college nestled in the larger University of Oregon. We’re the oldest honors college in the United States, tracing our roots back to the inaugural class in 1960.
Our namesake, Robert Donald Clark (1910-2005) served as the eleventh President of the University of Oregon. The CHC was formed when he was an administrator and grew during his presidency. We also continue to honor him through our mascot: Bobby the Platypus.
Today, the CHC offers small classes of no more than 19 people with exceptional faculty and motivated students. We have students from every college and school at the University of Oregon with a focus on interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking which will benefit students of any major. We also house the forensics (debate and mock trial) program at the University of Oregon.
The CHC is run out of Chapman Hall. Offices of our wonderful staff are located on the first floor and CHC-exclusive classrooms are located on the third floor. Office pods for faculty are located on all three floors. Be sure to pop by and say hello to some of them from time to time!
