India currently has an annual population growth of 7.6% which is more than 7 times the global average. Over the past years, this rapid population growth has caused many issues within the borders of India. As cities have become more and more overcrowded, resources have become more scarce for individuals. This has lead to habitat destruction and abrasive farming tactics.

India’s large population growth also affects the global community. The more people that inhabit the planet the more nonrenewable resources are consumed. This consumption is also linked to carbon emissions which is one of the core causes of climate change. Many officials from India have proposed different ways to limit the growth. One idea is a government regulated child limit. Implementing strict policy such as a child limit however is very controversial and has both pros and cons.
