About

Beatrice Yeh Ogden received her BA in English from Reed College in Portland, Oregon. She is currently enrolled as a MS Candidate at the University of Oregon Arts Management Program with a focus in Museum Studies and Exhibition Design. She is currently completing her Graduate Research Project: In Search of the Transformative, Evaluating Exhibitions to Enhance Museum User Experience. She recently received the 2014 University of Oregon Research Award from the Arts Administration Department, and the 2015 Ina McClung Award.

In 2003, Ogden completed her undergraduate thesis unpacking poetry written by Chinese immigrants while detained at the Angel Island Immigration Station; her thesis analyzed poetry as a modality for immigrant detainees to cope with, and understand, their disenfranchised foreign experience.

Ogden’s visual art practice explores how individuals engage in conversations spatially; she also explores the mediums of photography, sculpture, assemblage, and fiber. Ogden is influenced by the work of Louise Nevelson, Andre Breton, Mark Jenkins, Ruth Asawa, and countless others.

Ogden’s curatorial practice is grounded in developing relevant and educational exhibition spaces, where the potential for transformative learning is encouraged. She is inspired by the work of John H. Falk, Leslie Bedford, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and Nina Simon.
