Current Research:
I explore active volcanic magma systems through interdisciplinary science. Through my PhD, I’ve studied the Three Sisters Volcanic Complex in the central Oregon Cascades. My work includes geochronology, geochemistry, and geophysics. Additionally, I employ methods including field work, laboratory analysis, and numerical modeling. I plan to extend this dataset, through my career, to further the way volcanologists communicate and map volcanic hazards to the surrounding community.

Previous Research:
Through an NSF funded REU at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, I expanded work within the experimental method of modeling dikes by injecting fluid into translucent gelatin. While many previous experiments focused on 2D, I explored both water and air injections in 3D. See my poster of AGU 2018 on the topic here (Poster: Dechert_AGU_2018). Thank you to Dr. Stephen Martel for your mentorship through this project.
