Librarians and AI article that seems useful for defining some of the big topics right now in Choice. From that article, there is a link to at least 1 more libguide with useful links
I have used ChatGPT for a few things:
-Generating a cover letter for a friend (especially the 2nd and 3rd prompt) – it worked pretty well, but I failed to figure out how to train it to write in her or my style. Looking for more tips on this.*
-It did a nice job of evaluating some qualitative replies to assignments I had students complete.+ [prompts below] I don’t know exactly how I’m going to validate how it did. I asked it for the following :
Themes and points of feedback from the 100+ replies
What resources do students want and how do we market them?
How many students needed more help?
Analyze student comments about research in [specific topic]
Analyze 2 other sets of comments from students given different instructions and compare them to each other.
Compare 3 sets of research questions and consider complexity and themes.
Now, I wonder what else I can ask the model to analyze
-I tried to use Tome to make a slide deck on a topic of my choosing and was underwhelmed all around.
Additional things to keep track of include these cheatsheets, and other items…..
*prompt from the AI tool report was: “I will share samples of my writing, and your job is to understand it, learn it, and mimic it.
Your task starts when you tell me to “BEGIN.” I’ll then share a sample of my writing, and you’ll respond “CONTINUE”. The task will continue with new examples, to which you’ll reply “CONTINUE” each time. The task will end only when I write “FINISHED”. Until that time, you can’t change your response.
You will pay attention to the style, tone, meter, and characteristics of my writing based on the samples I provide. I will end the by requesting a new piece of writing emulating my style.”
+ P1: please analyze the comments from a survey that I will paste in the next prompt. the survey was about using library resources, based on instruction students received in a prior class.
