My name is Casey Brogan. Born and raised in Maryland, I am currently a junior in the Robert D. Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon studying Public Relations and competing as a student-athlete for the Division I Women’s Lacrosse team. I am working towards a career in Public Relations and more specifically interested in crisis communication.

My name is Carlyle Garrick. I am a twenty year old African American just trying to reach my dreams. I have a strong passion for shoes, and I must admit that I am borderline addicted! People ask me what I want to do in life and I say “I just want to be legendary.” People ask me why I am an advertising major and I say, “I just want to make people laugh.” People ask me what’s my plan in life, and I say, “I just want to wake up everyday and work towards making it possible for my mother to retire early.” I was a business major at first and I realized that the suit and tie life is definitely not for me. I like to have fun, make people laugh, smile and even cry.  I feel like the J-school can help me reach my goals in life and open up doors to an entertaining future.  Now let me go be great!

My name is Yi Yang and I am an international students here in University of Oregon. My major is Public Relations and my minor is communication studies. I came here three years ago and I really enjoy the study life in University of Oregon.I like to study in University of Oregon because it has a really good study environment.Since I was a child, I have always cherished a strong desire to pursue advanced studies in America because I can take part in an educational system that is head and shoulders above the rest of the world. American has the most developed journalism industry. With its mature journalism industry, American’s education can offer me a unique opportunity to grasp the essence of this fascinating industry. This opportunity will open numerous doors to me in the future, and enable me to return to China prepared to excel in my interest field. After I graduate from college, I prefer to get some work experience in United States for two years, then I will return to China. I believe work experience is much more important than the knowledge in the book.

I grew up in Boston, Phoenix, and Dallas, and attended Occidental College in Los Angeles for my first two years of college before transferring to the University of Oregon. I have written both fiction and nonfiction in the past, and I aspire to be an investigative journalist or documentary filmmaker in the future. I hope to utilize my knowledge of sociology to write and create pieces that convey thoughtful social and cultural commentary.d to excel in my interest field. After I graduate from college, I prefer to get some work experience in United States for two years, then I will return to China. This project was an incredible team collaboration that uncovered numerous compelling stories in the world of women’s basketball here at the University of Oregon. This assignment taught us the value of recognizing each of our individual strengths while also learning to work together and collaborate effectively. Each of us found ourselves working hard on what we wanted to do, and this made our project even better since it was definitely a labor of love and dedication. We found some great stories and interviewed some fascinating people. Overall, this project brought us together as a group while also highlighting each of our unique talents, abilities, and interests.
