Assistant Professors of Film and Video Production, Emerson College

2100359_logoEmerson College is the nation’s only four-year institution dedicated exclusively to majors in communication and the arts. The Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College is a multi-disciplinary department of media makers, scholars, and artists; it is one of the largest and most prestigious media production undergraduate programs in the country, and is seeking applicants for two full-time faculty positions in film and video production. Both appointments are tenure-track Assistant Professor positions and commence in the academic year beginning August 24, 2017.

Qualifications:

  • terminal degree in film/video or a closely related field
  • one year of college level teaching (full or part time) and the ability to teach in a diverse college community
  • filmmakers whose point of view informs their work, exploring voices, experiences, and contributions of historically underrepresented groups in the U.S. or globally, are preferred
  • national and/or international filmmaking and exhibition record
  • expertise in one or more production disciplines, strength in both celluloid and digital processes, and facility in mentoring students in a variety of media modalities (e.g. fiction narrative, documentary, experimental film/video) are desirable

Responsibilities:

  • teaching core courses in the film and video production curriculum from the foundational to advanced levels
  • Tenure expectations require that the candidate  maintain a vigorous and successful creative practice
