The first people I noticed was from my music397 class. She was an old American white woman looked like about 55-65 years old, with a blonde short hair. I am pretty sure she was not a student of our university. There is one thing I am quite sure is she might a Christian. Because our music course called “Gospel Ensemble”. Each Tuesday and Thursday, we came together and sing songs to praise God. She came to our class and sang songs with us, she was wearing a white and simple dress, when she was singing, I noticed she was very focusing, looked very enjoyable and satisfied. I think she might retired have no job, thus she stayed at home as a house wife every day, her son or daughter might already get married or busy in their work, therefore, I think she might often fell lonely and boring, then she came to our class and sang songs with us will make her life more interesting.
The second person I saw today, was a Chinese girl, who has a black long straight hair, was wearing a very formal style white jacket, blue jeans, and a Nike sports shoes. She looks gorgeous even though she didn’t dress up or make up like many other females who were at the same age to her. She looks in hurry, and according to it is week five, I think she might have mid-term exams today or in this week. She might in a hurry to an exam or to the library for study. And her black backpack looks so heavy so I think there probably many books in it. I believed that she might born in a hard-working family and her parents work hard to afford her to abroad and study. I believe that she must has very clearly plans to achieve her “American dream.
The third person I noticed, was an Asian young man, who looks every handsome. I have no idea about which country he came from, he was wearing a very nice quality black coat, a short but very pop styled haircut, and a pair of Louis Vuitton leather shoes. He was standing in front of the Duck Store beside his Mercedes. He was chatting with several well-dressed young woman. Thus, I think he might had already finished his mid-term exams, and would hold a party in his or his friend’s house tonight, so he looked very relax and happy. According to his appearance, I believe that he often pay attention to dress up himself, and he must had a rich family. His parents send him abroad to learn in University of Oregon, after he finished all his class, he might go back to his country and begin to manage his parents’ company and business.
Hi Ace, after reading your post, I think you did good job on describing those people. The prediction and guess to the second and third person is really accurate. Those two person are the two typical international students, one is from a “hard working” family, and other is from “ business family” which is wealth and rich. I can pretty sure the third person is from China. There are lots this kind of people in U of O, they wear Luxury dresses, and looks like different to normal students. As I know, they probably go back to home county to take the business career from their parents after they study abroad for several years. All in all, Ace you make a good guess on those people.
Hey Ace, I thought you were very creative with this entry. The first person you discussed, the lady that sits in on your music class, sounded pretty interesting. I find it intriguing that you thought she was retired and lonely because she had the time to come to your class to try and make life more interesting. Honestly, I
think it can be fun to pick people out of a crowd, like this lady, and wonder slash try and create a life for them. I like how you associated the Chinese girl’s heavy backpack and fast pace to the library as her coming from a hard working family and that she understands how much time and effort her parents have put into her education. There are definitely people at this university that are very passionate and dedicated to their education, where as others are here because they come from a wealthy family and that’s just what you did after high school. Good insight.
Hey Ace, I wanted to comment on your very astute observations. The first person your described reminds me a lot of my neighbor back home. She is around the same age as you mentioned and she is a very avid Christian believer. I thought it was interesting when you said she seemed very lonely and bored because she’s older and her kids have possibly grown up. I can compare that same situation to my neighbor. She’s never too shy to chat, but I can tell she misses her kids and feels lonely at times.
