Sarah Deer is a professor at William
Mitchell College of Law and the
co-director of the Indian Law Clinic. An
expert on violent crime on Indian tribal
lands, Deer advocates for laws and policies
to protect Native women from domestic
violence and sexual abuse. Her work was
critical to the passage of federal legislation
expanding the power of tribes to hold
perpetrators accountable. She is the
recipient of a 2014 MacArthur Fellowship.
