8 am to 5 pm  – Remembrance Day National Roll Call, EMU Amphitheater, more Info
11 am University Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony, Ford Alumni Center Ballroom

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, November 12- 14
10 am to 4 pm Write Postcards to Deployed Service Members to thank them for their service, EMU Upper Amphitheater

Wednesday, November 13
12 pm to 2 pm – Lunch hosted by the Veterans and Family Student Association, UO Student Veteran Center
2 pm to 4 pm – Soldier Stories: Readings about Military Service, UO Student Veteran Center

Thursday, November 14
5:30 pm to 7 pm – 5k Run for Remembrance, meet at the UO Student Veteran Center

We’re OPEN for Business

Welcome new and returning student Veterans and family members. We hope you had a great summer.

Our Fall Term activities will be announced soon. In the meantime, stop by the UO Student Vet Center to study, read, use computers, learn more about the VFSA, or simply hang out.

We are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Sign up for the 2013 University of Oregon Veteran’s Commencement Ceremony

Are you or someone you know a graduating Veteran?
Would you like to be a part of a meaningful Veteran’s commencement ceremony?
Do you like free food?

Join us for the University of Oregon’s 1st ever Veteran-only commencement ceremony.

Date: Saturday, June 15 2013
Time: 5 – 9 pm
Place: Eugene Hilton, 66 E 6th Ave; Eugene, OR 97401
We will provide food; No-Host bar available.

At the ceremony, Veterans will be given a special Red, White, and Blue braided honor cord symbolizing their self-sacrifice and service to their country, which they wear both during the Veteran’s commencement as well as any departmental commencement they attend.

Important: NEED TO RSVP by JUNE 7th! vfsa@uoregon.edu

Please provide Name, Branch of Service, degrees receiving, majors, minors, number of guests, as well as any additional information that you may wish to be stated during your announcement. We also encourage you to identify a family member who can briefly talk about your journey to this momentous occasion (3-5 minutes).

May 30th – Papa’s Pizza Fundraiser

Thursday, May 30th – Fundraiser at Papa’s Pizza Parlor

Please join us for our Spring Fundraising Pizza Party at Papa’s Pizza on Coburg Road. When you bring this flyer, 50% of the value of your purchase will be donated to the VFSA. The fundraiser is going ALL DAY long.
Student Veterans and their families are also invited to join us for dinner at 6:30 pm. We will provide some pizzas or you can purchase your own, which will go towards VFSA Fundraising.

Saturday, April 27 – Ducks Football Spring Game

Join us this Saturday for the 2013 Ducks Football Spring Game at Autzen Stadium. The Ducks will tout special Thank our Troops Uniforms (photo courtesy of Oregon Football; more pictures of the uniforms can be found at their Facebook Site).

Members of the VFSA will watch the game as a unit. To find us, please meet us by the VFSA table inside of the Moshofsky Center between 9 am and 11 am.

Date: Saturday, April 27, 2013

Kickoff: 11 am; limited parking East Parking Lot starts at 8:30 am ($5), Access to the stadium begins at 10 am.

Cost of Admission: 3 items PER PERSON of non-perishable items donated to Food for Lane County.

Military Members and some lucky VFSA members will be recognized on the field. So join the U of O and greater Eugene/Springfield community in showing our support for those who served and are still serving their country. More information on the Spring Game can be found at www.GoDucks.com.

Some of our members will watch the Ducks Baseball team take on Stanford in PK Park right after the Spring Game. The Baseball game starts at 2 pm, admission is $ 9 but students and military members with ID gain free admission.

We hope to see you Saturday. GO DUCKS!

UO Student Veteran Center is opening this Saturday, April 20, 2013

Date: April 20, 2013

Time: 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Where: EMU Amphitheater (Taylor Lounge, EMU Main Floor in case of inclement weather)

Keynote Speaker: Michael Dakduk, Executive Director, Student Veterans of America (SVA), Washington, D.C.

Join us on this very special occasion as our vision for a university veteran center becomes reality. The afternoon starts with a brief pre-ceremony Meet and Greet at 1:30 pm. The official Ribbon Cutting begins at 2 pm and will be followed by Hors d’oeuvres (courtesy of University of Oregon ROTC).

We are grateful to count Robin Holmes (Vice President for Student Affairs), Senator Ron Wyden, and Representative Peter DeFazio among our guests during this event.

Furniture has arrived at the UO Student Vet Center

We are working hard to finish our new home before its Grand Opening April 20, 2013.

Today, Office World delivered their donated furniture, and with it, we are one step closer to opening the University of Oregon’s first ever Student Veteran-designated space. Here’s a look at the space with some of the new furniture.

Remember: We have our Moving Party on Tuesday, April 9 starting at 5:30 pm in the old space (EMU, Suite 2, next to the Craft Center). Help us move some big and small items into the new space. Free Pizza!
