Welcome back! Introductions and Exciting Plans: Fall 2018 Week 2
- I know you all are eager to start yet another (or maybe your first:) year in your college career, and IBEC is still here to make it an awesome experience! We will start this year off at our meeting at which we will introduce each other, welcome our new members and play some exciting games! Then we will get back to business by coming up with and discussing plans to make this coming year most valuable and rewarding to members like you! Come check it out and be part of a great community on the UO campus!

BTD, Exec Elections, Global Ethics: Spring 18 Week 2
- To kick off Spring Term we had members break up into five groups and given supplies to make a city. While doing this an exec member would go around to “observe” and take something without their knowledge. At the end one of the groups had most (if not all) of the supplies, while the rest of the groups struggled to put their cities together. This was to demonstrate the way in which business is conducted globally with one group being the “richest” or a first world country and the other groups representing second or third world countries that provide resources.

WIB and WARSAW meeting: Winter 18 Week 10
- We had the opportunity to join WIB and WARSAW for the last meeting of Winter Term! They had a guest speaker Kimberly Kanouse who is the Communications Director of the Jordan Brand at Nike. She talked about her experiences with the company, and all about her hard work (and sometimes failures) along the way.

Site Visit Recap & BTD Announcement: Winter 18 Week 8
- Coming backing from our Seattle Site Visit we had some of our members talk about their experiences, and their favorite part about the trip. We also had presentations on different countries around the world, to see which one should be the theme for the Black Tie Dinner. The winner: Spain!

Valentines around the World: Winter 18 Week 6
- As a fun way to spend Valentines day we thought that it would be interesting to see how other countries around the world celebrate the holiday. At the end we did “speed interviews” were members had one minute to answer questions they would get in a possible interview, and then had to switch partners. It gave members a better understanding of what to expect in an interview, and how to get their responses clear.

Shark Tank! Winter 18 Week 4
- For our week four meeting we choose to play around of shark tank to understand what it takes to pitch an idea to a group of executives. We watched three different videos on three different products, and our members had to debate if the idea was good, if the price was right, and if they would invest. We also played a game where our members had to guess what certain gestures mean around the world.

Troy Campbell Winter 18 Week 2
- For our first meeting of winter term we had Troy Campbell a professor here at the UO talk with us about how current students can market themselves to employer’s. With a background in sociology Campbell wanted students to connect their specific school experiences into tangible outcomes, and be able to specifically identify how they would apply those skills to the company or position.

Kim Holm Fall 17 Week 10
- For our last meeting of the term we had a crash course in resume building and personal branding statements from our own exec member Kim Holm. She walked us through what employer’s are looking for in a resume verses what they’re looking for in a cover letter, and how students can use these to their advantage. After the meeting and a great fall term we all went to falling sky to celebrate.

International Trade Game Fall 17 Week 8
- For our week 8 meeting we chose to play a game to learn more about the international trading system. Our members were broken up into four groups and given a bag of supplies, depending on if the group was a ‘rich’ or a ‘poor’ country determined what supplies they got. Not everyone had the same amount some teams had more paper and no scissors to cut the paper with, others had scissors and no paper to make their ‘product.’ At the end the teams figured out how to work together in order for everyone to get what they want.

Young Mountain Tea Company Fall 17 Week 4
- For the second meeting of fall term we had a representative from Young Mountain Tea Company come and talk with us about what it means to be a global business. We learned a lot about the tea industry over in India, and how young people are seeing it more as “traditional” work and would rather be in a city. One of the many activities they provide is a student exchange between students here in the U.S and students in India can both get experiences.

Kurt Jun (PGE) Fall 17 Week 2
- For our first meeting of the term we were fortunate to have Kurt Jun from Portland General Electric come speak with us about diversity in the work place. Kurt talked with us about his experience in the business world and his travels over his career, and why it is so important to understand different cultures and backgrounds from around the world.

Raj Vable (Young Mountain Tea Company) Fall 17 Week 4
- During our second meeting for fall term we had Raj Vable from Young Mountain Tea Company come and talk with us about what it’s like to be a small business in a global market, and still impact the world. He talked about where they source their tea and how much of it they produce each year. Their main goal is to keeping this lifestyle of tea making alive in India. They even have an exchange program that they started recently to bring young people from India to the U.S to gain experience here in the work place before going back to India.

Samuel Baker (Richardson Sports) Spring 17 Week 8
- For our last meeting of Spring term, we were lucky enough to welcome Samuel A. Baker. Samuel has extensive experience in sales, merchandising, brand marketing, and product development in top companies such as Coca-cola, Nike, Columbia Sportswear, Adidas, Red Bull and many more. He spoke to our members about international operations in a large corporation and the importance of understanding key communication differences between cultures. He also discussed some of the obstacles he has had throughout his journey and how he has developed his skills along the way. It was an incredible opportunity for our members to get insight into the corporate world and how many companies within the sports industry carry out operations.

Justin Hart (MIUSA) Fall 16
- Mr. Harford is one of the program and project coordinators with Mobility International USA (MIUSA). He spoke to the club about increasing the participation of people with disabilities in the international exchange program. Members were able to learn more about MIUSA and receive insight on what it is like to travel internationally with a disability.

Roger Rutan (King Estate Winery) Fall 16
- For one of our Fall meetings, we invited Roger Rutan, one of the LCB marketing professors, to speak about his international experience and career at King Estate Winery. Students were able to connect and engage with Professor Rutan and learn about his childhood in the middle east.

Arlyn Schaufler (Duck Store CEO) winter term last year
- Arlyn Schaufler is the Chief Executive Officer of the Duck Store. He came into talk about the Duck Store, it operations, and history. Members were able to interact with Mr. Schaufler and give input on what they would like to see from our campus book store.
