After viewing the video “Laws That Choke Creativity,” I would agree on most things that is discussed throughout it, but one in particular that stood out to me was the discussion on the internet. How Lawrence Lessig discussed the internet and stating that it was a terror on the content industry is something that I would agree upon. I believe that it has created less creativity in the world surrounding us but at the same time has created even more creativity through different technology, and is a gateway to get that creative information out and around the world. That brings me to my question regarding social media. With all the social media going on, do you believe it has created a less creative environment for our generation and future generations? Or that it has rather created a different type of creativity for our generation that is different from what it used to be in previous genreations?
Hi Tyler, you make a great point along with Lessig on how technology has, “created less creativity in the world surrounding us but at the same time has created even more creativity through different technology”. I think technology has created different types of medium in which to display art, but at the same time, you can only take technological art so far, the rest becomes uniform.
I don’t think technology has created less creativity for kids of the next generation because there is still an artistic complex to photography and photoshop, but I definitely think it’s not an organic form of art because it might be more difficult to transform your state of mind into technological art.
Hi Tyler, I were read your post about “Remixing Culture”, you were mention a very interesting question in your post. For answer your question, I think it has rather created a different type of creativity for our generation that is different from what it used to be in previous generations. Because in our generation we can easier to get information from internet, and we can easier know other’s creative from news, I think the internet help people get more creative than before. In Lawrence’s video he were mention that “the importance is that that technique has been democratized. It is now anybody with access to a $1,500 computer who can take sounds and images from the culture around us and use it to say things differently. These tools of creativity have become tools of speech. It is a literacy for this generation. This is how our kids speak. It is how our kids think. It is what your kids are as they increasingly understand digital technologies and their relationship to themselves.” He were explain very clean that how internet or technology impact kids life, when we were kids it is unimaginable that one day we can use a cable in computer to see what we want to see about the whole world. Therefore, I think the Internet or technology help our generation a lot.
Hi Tyler,
The main point that you mentioned in this article is that the development of internet reduce people’s creativity. I total agree with your point and the point in the video. With the development of technology, we can search everything we need in internet. This help me get everything easily; however, people do not think and create things by their own thinking style. As you asked in the article “do you believe it has created a less creative environment for our generation and future generations?” I think I do. The reason is that internet help us to do a lot of jobs. If we want to finish a job, we can search the internet for a basic model. However, this kind of model limited our imagination. We only want to create a kind of thing like the basic model instead to create it based on our own thinking style. This is bad, it will block our creativity and thinking.
